Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mother was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and maternal grandparents were born and raised in Skipton, Yorkshire, England. Moved to California when father accepted employment in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Graduated from Diablo Valley College (CA) with an A.A. in Business Administration and from American International College (MA) with a B.S. in Business Administration.
Have two children, Kristen who is a Librarian, and Michael who is a computer tech. Have resided in Stockton, California since 1978.
Am a member of the DBE Heritage Chapter in Stockton, California and have served as Regent and Secretary. Served as National Recording Secretary for the 33rd Administration. Mother, Patricia Simpson Gilman, was a member of the Golden Hinde Chapter in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Community groups and activities include: American Association of University Women (AAUW); The Haggin Museum; Central United Methodist Church, the Stockton Symphony League and Association. Have held leadership positions in all groups.
